When using a remote fan, the wall switch must be flipped on for the fan to operate. Turning the wall switch off cuts the power to the fan altogether. When that power is restored (by flipping the switch back on), your Hunter fan light will flash once, very quickly. The control system is performing a quick check of the light functionality. This flash is not a power surge, and does no harm to the fan nor your electricity
Dual Wall switches and Hunter remote control fans
On a dual wall switch, the main switch must be flipped on in order to supply power to the ceiling fan. The second switch will be a “dead” switch unless you have a Hunter or Casablanca ceiling fan with a factory-installed receiver. With those specific fans, we added functionality to allow the light wall switch to turn on or off the fan's light. This capability is unique to Hunter Fan Company.
