When purchasing a fan, there are three factors to consider in order to get the right fan for your space.
1. Ceiling fan blades should be installed at least 7' above the floor. If your ceiling height is under 8', you need a low-profile fan.
2. As a general rule, fans mounted with a downrod will circulate more air. If air movement is important to you and your ceiling height allows it, select a fan that mounts with a downrod.
3. If your ceiling height allows for a low-profile fan, the visual look is significantly different from a fan that mounts with a downrod.
